Sadly in this instance due yet again to Manufacturers simply not listening even when given as much help as possible, the only answer I’ll give is speak to a JCB Dealer or purchase/hire an alternative brand with suitable Auxiliary pressure.

First breakdown today, not bad for 6 years!

  I think it’s the dead man handle. Everything starts ok, just no hydraulics.  I can hear the ‘ click ‘ when the handle goes down.

  Any advice welcome.

I want to put a hydraulic thumb grab on my TB125, however the auxiliary control buttons are an all or nothing affair- which clearly is not going to lead to finesse on the thumb! If I fit some flow restrictors on the thumb line- won’t the pump still be trying to force the same fluid through a smaller diameter and therefore lead to overstraining of the pump and that groaning noise you hear when it does? Is there a better solution? I also have this problem on my other digger with the tilt hitch- it’s controlled by a footpedal- but you have to get the restricting screws set mega accurate  for it to work nice and smoothly....

Hmm, I had a similar thing once,  the solenoid had failed for the dead mans handle so couldn’t activate the hydraulics. However on that machine the handle didn’t have to be dis- engaged to start the machine...

 

funnily enough machine was same age and hrs as yours at the time...

Hmm, well, possibly enough said. I appreciate the sensitivity of the issue given that JCB is a home grown product. However, when they ignore customer feedback, I quickly run out of patience myself. The paint issue is a prime example of what really winds me up: absolutely unfit for purpose! It’s not that they can’t do it, because there was nothing wrong with the paint on older models: how dare they insult their customers, it’s  blatantly obvious that the paint is going to fail. You suggest they’ve made efforts to address this, and I hope you’re right.

 

Mind you, poor paint work certainly isn’t confined to JCB; Cat and Bobcat aren’t too clever, and Thwaites are appalling. I suspect Kubota is one of the best, and that’s reflected in residual values. There’s no better advert for machinery than  to see old examples still working and looking smart!

Firstly, check the fuse. If OK, remove cover from the arm rest, find the switch, unplug it from the circuit and jump the two terminals. If this works, then it's switch (most likely). Failing that, you'll need to search for a break in the wire somewhere, most likely where the wire flexes when the armrest is lowered or raised.

 

Should be a simple fix.

I take it the main flow controls the slew, boom, dipper, extension and crowd and the auxiliary is just for implements?

 

What are normal main flow pressures and how much less is the auxiliary?

Sorry, I’d like to think I do my bit when it comes to sharing information.

 

This one is different, it’s a straightforward heads up for guys to do their homework if thinking of any of the JCB Midi range as a carrier for a Shear.

I really rate them, but checkout the brochures and you’ll soon find the issue.

A solution is another thing altogether!
