2 stroke oil to fuel ratio

Bloody hell, what am I reading.

been running at 50:1 on red Stihl this past 15 or 20 years.

Suziki MX120 engines and Stihl strimmers mostly.

Had to throw a wobbly or 2 to cure my staff of the old "bung a bit more in" for sure, for sure., for very very sure to be needing to be changing plugs regularly like

They also looked at me like I had 2 heads, when I suggested they should really rinse out the calibrated measuring container with the mix petrol.

They appear to feel the dead flies stuck in the oil from the last mix improve it somehow.

Wtf will persons not "do what it says on the tin"

Absolutly no issues this last good number of years.

The exhaust is blue because the oil combusted.

 

The smoke is blue because it is an aerosol (colloidal suspension of solids in a gas), Particles of Incomplete Combustion finely dispersed in the exhaust such that they interfere with the light and appear blue in reflection. They are normally black soot based particles. This is similar to why a a similar suspension of oils in a liquid (i.e. milk an emulsion) is white.

I use a strainer when filling the saw, it came with my measuring bottle. The big ones with the spout would take a lot of washing out.

Nope, this is a straight sided specially bought measuring "cup", from Stihl, i think, that has both imperial (for 1 gall imp) and metric (for 5 litre) measurments for 50:1 and 25:1 mixs.

So when we mix a full 10 litre can, fuel measured at the pump, it is the 25:1 line they use.

Being 2 by 5 litres of 50:1 mix

Again it was absolutly alien Man from Mars Rocket science to explain that they should perhaps jibble and fill fuel tanks and perhaps even pour mix from 1 10l jar to another.

So as to leave an EMPTY 10 litre jar so they could accurately mix............10litres worth.

As opposed to the "well it took 3.5l to fill this jar, and 2.5 litre in that jar and 7 litres in the third jar , so how much oil do I put in each jar?"

Yes, absolutly seriously.

And they should rinse the measuring cup out and invert it over the cap of the 10 litre Stihl 2 stroke oil jar.

Which sits on a bench at the back of the shed.

And never moves.

Simples?

Unfortunately, no.

The 2 stroke bottle I have has graduations on the side that equate to 50:1 ratio for 5 liters . . Just pour into fuel can one graduation then pump the petrol in . Do as many 5 liter cans as you want no need to wash any thing out .
