I doubt very much that the gear being sold at the York car boot has been stolen in the same county

 

When i had a load of gear nicked when i lived in leeds, the copper who came out said to go down to cross green car boot in leeds and see if they were there.

Currently two of my teams are working near a large traveller site in surrey. Every day they pull into our site to see what they can take. One of them managed to get into the van and took the fuel card. Now i have put extra men on the job just for security. The travellers still keep driving past giving the guys abuse. Its only going to be a matter of time before they try our yard i think!!

I guess its just a coincidence that all your kit goes missing while stow is inundated with white transits and caravans while the travelers fair is on!

 

Perhaps.

 

Something else to consider. A professional organised gang of theives could do worse than targeting an area such as you mention, using it as a sort of cover.
