Subcontracting chipper rates (to help with finance payments)

I'm very unsure about second hand equipment and want to avoid if at all possible.

I have bought only Stihl equipment in the last two years and avoid cheap and secondhand kit as I need the reliability (as we all do) and really would like to do the same with the chipper

The truck on the other hand - I'm not sure the finance per month is going to work for both and so may have to go second hand with that - looking at Iveco daily or similar.

Ever considered going down the wee chipper way, cs100 or the like.

Able to handle most average jobs, minimal outlay, good resale value and just Hire in if you get a bigger job with more stuff to shift.

I've used a cs100 when Justin at FRJones had one for hire, locally we only have a timberwolf 3" gravity chuck all over the floor kinda machine. The local option for a chipper hire is pricing to me around 350 per day!! so hiring a machine isnt an option.

To do tree work you need a truck and chipper, so the problem with trying to sub you self out as man with truck and chipper is most tree firms have a truck and chipper .it can be hard .you'll have more joy subbing yourself out as a climber.thats what i've found.

Thats 350 for a 6" timberwolf not the 3" (to clarify)

That could work as a side line, I have scope (currently before advertising my tree services fully) to take on some subby climbing work and it all helps to pay for it

Mate i go out with a a530t jensen for £225-£250 per day depending on milage but i have nptc 30,31,38,39 with all my own tackle and i don't mind climbing for that either. £350 per day is Mog+10-12" chipper region. There are guy's that go out for £180 a day with tranny and 6" timberwolfs on this forum!!

yr rate depends on how good you are ,you may class yr sen as a good climber others may differ ,contract climbing is a diffrant ball game ,folk paying top doller for a climber ,want top results ,think before letting yr sen in for this wen selling yr self ,that all imo
