I think the final sentence sums up finance. It's ok saying money is cheap but unless you have it on a fixed interest rate then you might run into trouble down the line. If you can afford it then it is a must.

I've never been offered finance that wasn't fixed.

cheers for the advice chaps... its interesting to hear different opinions..

today I looked at three jobs.. two of which I will need to hire a micro dumper of some sort, works out for a few hundred quid extra I might aswell buy one and have it in my arsenal (typed carefully to avoid misunderstanding ) as half in theory is being paid for by the customers.

I think half my problem is the varying sized jobs we take on.. would be near impossible to have the right gear all the time.. without anything sitting around in the yard unused for period's of time anyway. obviously an old paid for machine doesn't cost during these period's..

think ill keep what ive got and ad to my collection as i can afford outright, for a while..

Ill revaluate the situation when and if a clearer line of similar work develops..

If you could afford it you would not need finance

There's a fine line though between buying old knackered kit and good used machines which still have plenty of life in them, I totally agree that if you need a machine urgently and you can't afford a good used machine outright then finance is the answer.

But, I don't see why you would use finance is you could afford a good machine outright,if you buy without finance its earning YOU money straight away and if your sensible you'd be putting that money away for the next thing.

Who knows though- I don't profess to be a good buisnessman!
