Not that there was ever anything exactly wrong with them but I always felt the 346xp was totaly over rated and all the ones I had any experiance with where a pain to re start on a warm day after a tea break whereas my 353 would always fire up first pull

Never had the problem with restarting but can completely agree with where you're coming from - not that the 346 was a bad saw particularly, just badly in need of updating properly well before it was replaced IMO.

Ms 180. That stupid carb that can't be adjusted is what makes me rate it as one the worst ever. Pity, as it's not a bad little cutter when running

+ 1 on the ms180 . We had a heathland clearance contract and needed some lightweight saws so I bought 8 of these. Most have broken the choke fulcrum point which is part of the case, oiling issues and temper-mental running . POS

IMHO.

Absolutely anything off ebay where the seller says

'It used to run so it should be an easy fix'

On the whole, I'd agree, but not always. I've maybe just been lucky, but I had one I bought as a non runner that I took out of the box, put fresh fuel in and it runs great, and another that just wanted a fresh diaphram in the carb.

If you only bid what it's worth to you as spares then anything better has got to be a bonus surely?

This I agree with. If it says for spares or repair then buy it as spares and only bid what you think its worth to you. Anything more and people can have them. But set your restriction on spending about 20 quid lower than what you really want, we all know you get dragged into a bidding war on ebay.
