I've heard if you've been felling softwood and your trousers get that waxy resin look, a wood wasp can mistake your leg for a tree and attempt to bore in with the "stinger" and lay eggs!! :thumbup:

 

That is absolutely true.

 

Wood wasps are amazing to watch when they bore into a bit of wood. Such a fragile looking "stinger" (I think the proper name is ovipositor?), drilling into a piece of solid wood always impresses me. :001_cool:

we have some big wasps coming indoors at night dirt great things twice the size of a normal wasp. was told german wasps. well if so go back to germany soon as i see them im off not hanging around with them flying about.

making my hairs on back of neck tingle at the thought stay well clear of wasps do not like them one bit do good i know but make me sweat.
