thats way better than any woodmizer, even a small photo like that shows the quality in its construction, nice one J

I was especially impressed with the quality of the fabrication. Here is one of the progress photos:

Very excited about it showing up, even if moving it around is going to be a headache! I don't do much mobile work, though I do intend to do more through actually advertising it now and again!:laugh1:

Wot I tought:thumbup:

Or the bolted on 7.5 tonne scaffolding truck bed idea.

Erm.

Even better if bolted to a "tilt and slide" car recovery type body on an extended 5.2t/6.5t/7.5t chassis.

Leastwise then one would be working at the correct level, i.e. ground level.

Or on a dedicated "hook lift" body?

PS

I find I am better at spending other peoples money than my own:blushing:

But I do like to see things done "right"

i think theirs a restriction on 7.5 tonne beds of around 8 metres?

i would think the only legal way to tow this is with a mini artic, the only time there has been an attempt at prosecution was Stirling council, the police dropped the case after pending 200k!

give Astra Vehicle Technologies a call, they built the tractor units for the council

Case study - Isuzu

Astra also works closely with Isuzu UK on refuse collection vehicle (RCV) applications and is a one stop shop for both chassis engineering and vertical tailpipe exhaust conversions. Work with Isuzu has involved converting a 7.5 ton rigid chassis to a mini artic

The council wanted vehicles that would be easy to operate and provide maximum productivity. Their articulated trailers provide optimum payload, are compact and provide good maneuverability. An added bonus is that currently the vehicles can be driven by people who hold an ordinary driver’s license

In this application Astra have modified a standard Isuzu 6.2 tonne rigid chassis by reducing the wheelbase and adding a 5th wheel with run up ramps, aluminium checker plate chassis infill, heavy duty compressor, air & electrical connections, mud wings and LED rear light clusters.

Bingo Woody, a while since I had done my homework, but I was sure it should be a "runner".

Quite why this loophole is not more widely exploited I do not know, if nothing else for the manouveribility aspect.

Generally only used by, or for specialist "Roadshow" type vehicles, light but volumeteric/extra long.

Regards,

Marcus

If it was mine, personally I would tow it with the nav, make sure all lights and number plates are in good order and go for it. I have been driving trailers for 22 years and only been pulled by vosa once.... If you are worried about the brakes swap the axles for some indespension units or similar, should cost under 2k for the whole lot. My brother has a 6 wheel steering drawbar trailer that he imported from germany, it has at least 8m of load bed and another 2 in the drawbar, so it must be 10m long, he tows it with a disco4. not had any bother...

Your spot on Tom my thoughts exactly:thumbup1:
