What oil should I use

I've just had a bear carved for me and I need to know what oil I should use to treat it, many thanks arbtalkers

Clear decking oil would be my choice.

Hi, as you can see I used a wood stain for mine which adds effect and is really good but if your looking for a clearer finish id agree with wisewood :-)

Im a decking-oil man. the B&Q own-brand works great. has a bit of lacquer in it which makes it nice and water repelent

keep applying coats daily for a week or so, then you can probably reduce it. in gerenal its hard to oil too much but easy to not oil enough

use boiled linseed oil, its half the price of decking oil and does the same job, they use it on log cabins

osmo are good. poly x or uv protection stuff for me. i did the oak table and benches with the osmo uv protection oil 420 clear, works a treat...

only problem with linseed oil is that it can go black with age if fungus gets growing on it.

+2 for osmo poly x, uv protection oil is good too, but I prefer poly x
