thank you for the heads up i was putting wood chip in dumper and there was a lot of dust flying around put my teeshirt over mouth as did not want to breath it in. now what you have posted i am going to wear a mask in future. that is very scary stuff,

The dust from fermenting woodchips can cause problems for the lungs, especially if your forking out an enclosed chipbox. Other forms of dangerous wooddust comes from chipping deadwood on calm days and inhaling all the dust your surrounded by.

 

Certain hardwood dust particles are known carcinogens.

 

Aspergillosus, another lung condition caused by inhaling fungal spores can be fatal and there has been a number of cases of farmers developing the condition and being left immobile the infection is so debilitating.

Good enough reason not too leave chip in the truck for too long and something to bare in mind next time is attack the heep to take a load back out especially for local school allotment, thanks for posting as not something id have normaly considered.

I dont know if anybody noticed but when Tree;Tment started this thread it was his first post on here, and after replies like mr stockbridge has put on i wouldnt be suprised if he doesnt post again, the guy came on here to warn us about a health risk from something that most of us work with everyday, so if people have'nt got something constructive to post dont bother.
