Make sure you thank everyone, a little joke thrown in along the lines off...

I would like to SPANK the Bridesmaids... I mean thank... you get the drift. I am sure it is not the most original but the odd accidental/on purpose freudian slip can do a lot to raise a laugh and calm your nerves.

At least it did to the guys I have seen use it in the speeches.

I would refrain from writing a script/speech. Just have bullet points that you want to get across etc. and wing it from there, (thats what I seem to do, though I am not marred but have delivered best mans speeches) it seems more flowing. Good luck and enjoy your day.

speeches first, just say the wifey bit, and say thankyou. its the best mans job to be funny. relax and enjoy the day, champagne and magners. i loved my wedding. we did it over a weekend. 50 guests, 20 kids, hotel to ourselves in the middle of no where. my only stippulation was bacon rolls at midnight and plenty of tommy sauce, went down a treat

I take it you don't do any public speaking? Can I suggest that you just try to express how your feeling at the time. How can you possibly know before hand what you want to say? You don't so don't write a script in anyway. Any script will have to be read, or notes will have to be looked at, the pressure of fulfilling the necessity to fill the air with the sound of the speech, will if your nervous, sound like a speech you wrote before. Like everyone else. Your an individual, thats why your bride to be wanted to marry you in particular. Be that man. Be yourself, let the emotion of the day be your guide and improvise like a jazz cornet player. The spirit of Jazzzzzzzzz

oh and congratulations

Firstly congrats on the forthcoming marriage mate, and good luck for the future. We did our speeches first and it worked really well. I worked myself up about it and afterwards wondered what I was worried about. Short and sweet. Leave the big job for the best man. Just thank the right people.
