I loved it when I went to France, beef in the butchers there is nearly black on the outside its been hung that long.

 

Trouble is the wife does the shopping, you can't tell a woman .... :001_rolleyes:

 

I reckon 50% of the weight of that mince came out immediately in water, I have just added carrots, turnip, broccoli, apple, pasta and rice and cooked it all without adding any more water....says it all really :thumbdown:

Tried to fry this beef in a tiny amount of oil, it ended up boiled. Bloody disgusting how much water they put in meat

A guy on the radio said the only risk to humans would be if you ate 600 pure horse meat burgers in a day and even then the risk was very low. I would say non existent as I don't think anyone could eat 600 burgers in a day. And live!!!

 

I did hear a while ago Asda had been done for refreezing meat getting close to its sell by date and then putting it back out on the shelves.

It puzzles me how there hasn't been a massive public outcry over the whole horsemeat saga.

The issue of whether or not horse meat or bute is bad for you is completely beside the point. The real issue is that you have no idea whatsoever where that horse came from, how it was treated, what its health was or even what it died of. It could be roadkill for all anybody knows.

There is nothing to say it is actually meat either, it could just as easily be intestines, hooves or any other part of the animal.

 

If it were your local butcher caught doing such things he would most likely get jail. What do you think is likely to happen to supermarkets for the exact same crime?

 

At the supermarkets insistence farmers have to jump through a myriad of traceability hoops, and yet the supermarkets then go on and sell "meat" that they don't even know what animal it was, never mind where it came from!

And you can't tell me they didn't know what was going on. Even if they didn't, it was their job to know.

 

Of course if folk go into a supermarket and buy "value" burgers and expect it to be real beef they are just as daft.
