You will say she never called the ANC terrorists, supported Pinochet, financially backed Saddam or passed homophobic legislation (clause 28) next.........

No point arguing though, as those who loved her will never hear a truth against her

Not so Pete, those who 'loved her' do realise that everyone in power makes mistakes,& goes against the grain at times, stick to facts not slander if you want to make a valid point,it's more convincing.:001_smile:

eggsacarol...its a shame that the bad blood still runs in the old mining communities...I know a fireman who refused to strike...he is still a pariah amongst the firefighters today...he ended up leaving the job he loved, his workmates (some good mukha's of mine) refused to speak to him. Right or wrong he stood up for what he thought was right...and he paid dearly for it. As for MT being a war-monger for giving the Forces a payrise?....what a load of tosh!...we've been in a hell of a lot more wars since!.

She's been out of politics for a long, long time, what we talking about is now history...we should be more worried about what the way our country is going now.....

Arbogrunt, I think it's very dangerous to say forget about it, it s history, can't remember who said it but those that forget the lessons of the past are destined to repeat them in the future , we should never gloss over either good or bad, it all needs to be learnt from

So what you're saying is that there were some really nasty scumbag miners who orchestrated the strikes, bullied ordinary folk into not working and even killed some of their colleagues and neighbours....? :001_huh:

Yet you still believe the government was to blame.... :confused1:

How could the government deal with the situation in any other way? If these were the sort of people who could do that to their friends, there was no way ANYTHING the government did would ever be accepted by them.

Maybe if those who didn't want a part if it, who would seem now to be the majority, had stood against them sooner then maybe the outcome could have been very different.....

What i meant to say was my family were NOT fans of Scargill and yes there was scumbags that bullied their colleagues and neighbours.

Mining was a hard industry with lots of hard working class men in the job. Standing up to these sort of lads was very difficult when they all lived on the same estates. And yes i do believe that the government could have dealt with it in a better way. So could the unions
