Price per 1m cube next year.

Strangly enough a tractor, even one 40 years ago, was/is not that much slower than a car.

It might feel like it is, but as the average door to door speed for a car is only 28/30 mph (proved over 250,000 miles) not really as the tractor will maintain a flat out top speed virtually all the time.

Now with 40, 50 and perhaps 60 k boxes (regardless of the legalities) even less in it.

However with red diesel now being 1/2 the price of clear, and a tractor being less mechanically efficient at road haulage, the fuel costs can actually be higher for a tractor as opposed to a truck.

PS

The trailer should have proper air brakes, therefore not reliant on tractor "bossing"

PPS

Oops!

Soft wood price per unit volume again hardwood?, in %age terms or rule of thumb?

thanks

Marcus

I'm currently on £100 for 1.5 cubic metre load,

Or £66.66 a cube,

all split, consistent length, hardwood, think that's a bit cheap, but any over a £100 and people seem to laugh, but they don't grumble bout the £1000.00 oil bill a year,

I wish I could take these people logging,/splitting for a day !!!

1000k a year. wow thats cheap. ive just bought a 1000ltrs and that was £766 and will last 3 months if iam lucky:thumbdown:

logs here will do 70 tops hard delivered but iam burning most of mine to keep warm myself:001_smile:

Just pulled this one from the the top of a bag.

Lets wait for the phone calls about wet logs !!!!

taking a reading from the side of any timber is not recomended. most moisture travels thru the ends of logs not out thru the side. take a reading from each end, and a middle and average.
