Hmm, interesting. You are quite right about it being confusing, even if the loophole exists, the chances are if you do get pulled the officer wont be properly informed about the rules. I personally would not want to get into a situation where I had to go to court to clarify the issue, whatever it was!

My personal attitude to loopholes is to not bother trying to jump through hoops, which is why I'v just bought an 18 tonner, which will require o licence and tacho etc, but will never give me any problems with legislation.

Regarding plating and o license. Yes to first and no to second. O license and tacho not required as i don't go more than 50 miles from base- my farm-

 

Whats that got to do with the price of chips? farm to base 50 miles , means nothing , all it means is you can get away a '' restricted operators license'' you still need an o license if you drive anything over 3.5 ton, how far you travel doesn't matter, I have an o licence................

I converted my hi cap to a tipper using a tipping back off a scrapped Tata pick up perfect size . Box section frame with ply sides and to finish it off a purpose made tarp orange and green to match the TW .

I would post pics but me and technology just dont mix.

I'm looking to convert my landrover 110 hi cap to a tipper

Any ideas for a cheap converstion and where i can get it done. I'm based in the southeast london/kent/surrey borders.

Bit like a transit, ok till you get one of the back wheels on a blade of grass or bit of mud then they don't go anywhere.

Anything with a decent payload and good off road capability is rediculously priced
