could just be somthing really simple(.ie dud battery, cold weather)

the plus side of a vehicle where everything needs fixing is once done you should have a good truck, a bit odd but i think there is some logic in there!

hope you get it sorted.

Mines in the garage right now after the dual mass broke up Friday.. Been reliable untill then apart from a starter moter a few moths back so I knew the dual mass was going , seems a real problem with the modern transits ! But unfortunietly there's not much alternanive would maybe look at an iveco next they seem more rugged...

I've recently sold my 55 plate transit (throttle sensor, dual mass flywheel and other electronic 'we have the technology so lets build it in' shitebits.

I have replaced it with a smiley R reg. I had to replace the front wheel arches but no problems whatsoever with the mechanics.

I'd say older fords, LDVs or German.

My ancient LT35 never let me down in 6 years, just sluggish.

Newer is not necessarily better

And who was the Dagenham d1ckhead who invented the 'safe mode' when the sh1te electronics lose confidence in the e messages they receive.

After a hard days work, driving down a country lane in the dark, with chipper in tow -

something happens and the van slows to 4mph!

If you stop and turn off/on again you can do a few miles before it does it again.

How do they have the audacity to call it SAFE mode.

Anyone in the Worthing area... who fancies having to stop in Titnore Lane in the dark.

New fords are the epitomy of Thunderbirdism (technology for the sake of it).

End of rant

I think everybody i know started with an old LDV

Ours was an ex council 'R' reg with the transit engine and box.

Brilliant, never let me down in the four years we had it.

Apart from tyres the only thing it had was a clutch, and a month later a clutch cable.

The two crew cab Transits ( 53 and an 04 reg) we run in the tree teams are total rubbish, wheel bearings every year, new diff in one last year, clutch is going in the other one.

BUT.....

They do get hammered on a daily basis, overloaded (allegedly), pulling a tracked chipper and trailer.

I had this conversation with my local mech. fitter the other week. He's the dogs doo dah's with anything mechanical.

His advice, bite the bullet and get German, Mercedes, or VW.

We've already got a Caddy, and a Transporter coming, for the gardeners.
