Boss just bought one so had a little play, tommorow it will be going up with me, and i love it, sweet sweet saw, bravo stihl, you needed this after the new 201 which IMO is a poor performance

Had a go on one briefly late last week while subbing for someone that bought one.

 

First impressions are, it is in no shape or form a replacement for the 200t, but for what it is designed for it seams well suited. I would run it with a 10 inch bar though as I can see the temptation to try to get it to work like a bigger saw will be great.

 

As for it's durability with in the normal working environment..Time will tell..

 

The only down side I can see at just a quick glance is the choke & primer area look a bit vulnerable to accidental activation of the choke in hedges & puncturing of the primer in thorn hedges/trees as it is being pulled about on a lanyard.

I reckon the reason the vibes FEEL better is because of the finer chain, so allowing for this it makes sense. I really like the saw, for the vast majority of the reductions i do this is going to be awesome, tipping out on a light reduction all day is going to be so much easier and loving the narrow bar tip for detail/fine workin forks or close unions

They are a lovely saw Tony,just need a few tank fulls through them to get the best.

Hi guys I ordered one yesterday but with a 12 inch bar, have I made a mistake? Does it effect the balance much and is it worth having the bigger bar?

If your not happy with the bigger bar just get a 10" They are not expensive then you have more options.

Yea I suppose I could just do that, I will just like people's opinions on what Bar they prefer as i would rather buy one and stick to it.

I,d go for the 10". I have the rear handled version with the 10" bar and at anywhere near full depth it hasn't got any spare power. With the 10" bar it,s a cracking little saw. One other thing, you need to approach every cut with plenty of rev on. It has very little grunt to "catch up" otherwise.

Picked up saw today with 10inch bar. Cracking piece of kit I haven't fully given it the beans yet as i want to run it in correctly. It's amaZing how light it is.
