Impressive...

 

I am all for ecofriendlyness, noise reduction, fume elimination etc, however for me its a snail verses hare race... which last longer on one charge / tank of fuel while working?

 

Also be interested how the temperature affects the batteries, ie cold weather, will they last as long?

How long does the battery last? and do you get more than one when you buy?

You buy the saw, batteries and charger seperately.

Ideally you want 2 batteries so when one runs out, you can swap over and charge.

In theory, you shouldn't ever find yourself without power as the charge time is quick (around 30 mins)

 

I think for the saw, 2 batteries and a charger it's around £650 from FR Jones

(bit more than a petrol top handle, but no petrol = savings!)

yeah but how do you charge on the job or out in the woods? Say battery lasts 30 mins at full whack; need 14 batteries a day...

I heard they were developing an in-car charger

 

Whilst on a note of comparing the saws, the battery one has a chain speed of 16m/s or 20m/s, whilst the t435 is somewhere between 16-18m/s, in other words it cuts as fast as a 560 or larger engined saws!

I have a stihl ms180 which will spin a chain faster than that! Does not mean it'll outcut a 560 though....

Chap from the dealer suggested using an inverter but the charger is rated at 330W max, and has a cooling fan to boot.

 

Now 330W from a 12V inverter calls for 27.5A (equivalent to 6 headlights) at 100% efficient and I doubt you'll manage 80% so you will need a high current connection and keep the engine running for the 30 minutes.
