I think it's pretty clear from the pics that it will split apart eventually...how long it lasts in god hands.

 

You could pollard higher and brace it or 10-12ft from the base and let it go for a few years. You doing the work mate?

Hi Charlie,

 

I'm more then interested in taking a look for you...as you know i'm only in LOgnford so not a problem...have you thought about reducing the weight then bracing the two stems together...just a thought...ooohhh, sorry just read the above, good call....

Ooooooh.... Great thread, especially with lots of piccies of us working. I think I won the biggest top contest, but it was a close thing...

If anybody wants some fine pruning and delicate reductions doing, I'm not your man. If however, you need 150 massive poplar felling and clearing for £150 a tree, call me:001_smile:

Charlie, that poplar of yours will take me 20 minutes. I'll do it purely for the photo opp if you want :wink:
