How's this for maintenance help

I would never ask for advice, or have anything fitted there. I knew someone who got a job there and had to fit a radio on his first day, with NO training!

I do buy some tools and oils from them. I have a trade card and it makes some of their prices pretty good.

My Halfords story 1. Went into local store (shortly after reg plate rules changed) and asked for a number plate to be made up"NO BALL GAMES" Sorry we need to see a vehicle registration document and driving licence!!!!

story 2 Went to pick up my new expensive Carrera Hellcat mountain bike which was having a replacement wired speedo fitted. Wireless ones don't work with front shocks!(the one they originally fitted) assistant apologised for mess explaining that they had been burgled the night before , but only small items had been taken. Disappeared for 15 minutes to return to say "I think they have taken your bike!!!

The only reason anyone I know uses Halfords is when all other suppliers are shut and you really need a particular component.

Its not a motor factor shop staffed by enthusiasts, a lot of them are 17 year old part-timers who are studying for their A levels. They must make a fortune on those poxy little blister packs where a couple of 10mm jubilee clips cost £1.50

They might know where certain types of thing are in the store like wheel spacers and fluffy dice but WHY would you go there for advice????? (everyone on this forum must be capable of using the internet)

Maybe we should see who can come up with the best Anna Gram of Halfords.

One time when I went and got some wiper blade for my Land rover 130 I took them up on the fitting service, lad came out with me and stood near my Land rover 90 I said get in then he looked a bit puzzled then I told him this isn't the Land rover there for, there for the other one sitting in my drive. He didn't see the funny side.

I just find halfords amusing.

I like to look around all the boy racer bits and the car bling. Wounder if it would make my land rover look cool. See if I can recover some lost youth and go to a cruise with all the flashing lights and big alloys.

Then I remember how old I am and go looking for what tools are on offer.

Oh and I've noticed that they are the easiest place to steal from. Not that I've ever done it but seen plenty of kids opening the cabinets and fingering some stereo or hand tool away.

Went looking for some torx sockets a while ago as it was Sunday an I didn't have any big enough for the cylinder head. Asked as I couldn't see any and the lad said there was suppose to be one left..... Bet there wasn't.

Went in to Halfords two weeks ago to get a key fob remote battery. Young lad said we can fit that for you. I said great saves me trying to get my fat fingers around battery. Lad takes battery cover of takes battery out. his boss comes over and tells him off for offering to do it for free, then says to me that they couldnt do it as it may stop imobiliser working if they were to slow, followed by this was the lads first day. when I pointed out the battery was still out, he went a funny colour stuck a new battery in and said I m sorry sir we are closed. didnt pay the £4 for battery cause they were closed. Immobliser fob is for a Case tractor. (aftermarket fit) works even better now it has a free battery in it.
