Erm!

Cut the PTO to a more suitable length:001_rolleyes:(though I presume it belongs to another implement)

btw

I run the wee cross cut saw the same (ie not connected to tractor) simply because the DB 1490 PTO is mounted far too high relative to the saw stub.

The screw-threading although hard faced is quite fine, so it doesnt jam very often. Been using it 3 year now and its stalled the Fergie once :001_cool: couldnt find a shorter PTO (and wasnt buying a new one) so its never on linkage when being used.

Really do sujest you get a shorter shaft and mount it on the arms properly before something snaches and yuo regret it it may well never happen but you sure will regret it if it did !

Ditto, these machines are sudden biters and VERY nasty when it goes wrong, this way of using it, should it flip could put the user in a wheelchair with brain damage. Accidents are unintended unforseen events.

I know by someone elses experience. I don't normally express strongly on things and find Health and safety over the top. Spend £60 on a shaft and keep your complete body for life. Also put a bit of band or rope on the stop strangler for the tractor route it out the way under the seat and attatch it to the top link bracket so if the machine does get you you can still stop it with your other hand.

Please heed these opinions and enjoy working and life.:001_smile:

+1 Totally agree with the last comments, Safety always has to come first....Whats £60 for a shaft.....its nothing when your life is in the balance...Enjoy what you do and be safe....

Don't even need to spend £60 just cut the shaft down all you need is a hacksaw. Using the splitter like that will kill you, it will grab, spin and wrap you round it like a lump of rag. It is an absolute death trap used like that
