I'v only ever burnt it in a wood burner so cant comment on its acridity.

However in my experience its a dense wood that burnt well and long.

the akrid smoke smells like canabis!!!!! but i can only smell it outside the house!!! i guess the smell might not be the wood it could be the next door neighbour playing with his bong!!!

crying shame to burn it! lovely dark brown timber in the centre,,,I use it all for turning,,, need to leave it in the length though as tends to split in short bits,,,,stunning milled for jewerly boxs too,,,,,

Wood turners will take even very small stuff as they can turn spindles from it. A guy I sell bigger wood to will buy any laburnum bigger than 3" diameter.

Have you got the hint 'don't burn it' yet?!
