customer asked me as part of a hedge reduction, to cut this sycamore down . Luckily I stripped the ivy, or I wouldnt have seen the inside of the tree is full of concrete.

my guess is the tree has grown round a concrete post, so chances are it will be felled to just above it. I will investigate with an sds drill and report back :confused1:

Why is the winch cable too low? I've felled trees much bigger than that with the winch cable not much higher, if the winch has got the power there's not much point in climbing it surely?

Your pulling dead weight the lower you go, thus increasing the chance of the hinge breaking are the tree going pete tong! the higher the better "within reason".

Finished ringing down a Lime tree that i started last week. Riddled with kretzschmatia deusta. When I ratcheted the rigging block on one side compressed like tissue paper. No pics of the job but it was basically the same size as the tree next to it

Steve, I can see that the remaining line has been reduced in the past.

Is it staying put or is it coming out as well?

If it's staying put, is it being reduced due to its increased wind load due to its neighbour having been removed?

Do you know if also has Kretz?
