It is, Pete. Cockpit is all intact as is the bog. Behind that he's converting it into a bar. Makes a change from a summer-house.

Had 6 small pines and 4 medium sized poplars to take down today, they were in a big open garden so we got to straight fell them all which is rare.

I would say less chance of causing too much damage to the hedge, better to cut a branch than a stem, oh and it's just easier imo:biggrin:

Why the high stumps?

 

There was a wire mesh fence in the beech hedge, didn't want to catch it. The stumps were cut down to ground level afterwards.
