Manual pole pruner...choice of two

My current "cheapie" pole pruner finally fell apart. I've read a few threads here on manual pole pruners which have lead me to choose between these two.

Fiskars Telescopic Universal Cutter Anvil

P34-27-3MF Tree Pruner & Pole

Two very different mechanisms. The only comment I can make on the Bahco is the telescopic pole tends to loosen during use ( I already have one with a saw blade).

Has anyone got a preference for either mechanism.

I think it was David Goss from on here that always plugged the Fiskars . Where has he disappeared to btw ?? :001_smile:

Had wondered the same thing myself.

Personally I use the AUS pruners because they can be used live line. Plus you can get heaps of extension on them just by adding poles.

Go for the Bahco, can get to any height required with the use of more poles on the end, good build quality. Have used that Fiskars and was ok for very small branches, but anything of any size and it was horrible to use and ended up breaking after a short use. Also cant hook the branches due to the way the cutter head is positioned.

Silky Hayauchi high pruning saw 6.3m | F R Jones and Son

I can highly recommend this pole saw. The lopper attachment is great as well.

thought it was a bit pricey when I was selecting a saw but has been well worth it.

Have had it for a few years now just gets a wee skoosh of wd40 now and then.

Nice solid feel. Quality product.
