Depends where the photo is from? Not meant to use a climbing saw on the ground in Britian,i haven't seen many people that don't it's a pretty dumb rule as most other country's it's fine!

Never really understood why I'm competent enough to use one blowing about up the top of a Lombardy but its too dangerous to use on the deck.

No i know what you mean, but why advertise the fact that you do flout H&S on your website ?

Reasons why you don't use it on the ground.

1/ It is designed for up the tree and not ergonimical design for the ground.

2/ If an accident does happen then how will your insurance company look at it??

3/ Climbing saws are expensive and generally a small ground saw won't cost as much. use a 026 on the ground not a pricey tophandle

Usual double standards in UK

The law says no.

Your risk assessment therefore has to say no.

Someone gets injured has to say and have a small other saw to cover their backs which they then have to remember to drip blood on.:sneaky2:

Personally I find using a topper on the ground leaves me with an aching wrist as I'm always tempted to use it one handed to save stretching. But they're fuelled up and available so it's lazy.

It's also a pricey saw to wear out doing what could be done with cheaper gear.
