Interesting question.... I guess it depends on three things...

1 safety, if its unsafe or your not happy with the job in rain then postpone.

2 the customers wishes, after all its their lawn.. I've had jobs that had to go on hold because of the lawn.

3 money, if the customers fine about the lawn then it comes down to how much you need the cash... the messed up kit is an inconvenience but nothing that can't be sorted in the evening.

Some useful comments there, thanks. I'll be putting the crown clean of a large Red Oak on hold then. I'll go service the chipper and get out this afternoon to process some firewood. Tomorrow's meant to be better, although they said that yesterday about today.

When I was working for private firms, it seemed to be work in all weathers as couldn't afford days off. When working for the local authority, it seemed that the manager scheduled work around the weather. Hot summer days would be easy, light pruning jobs then chainsaw trousers could be avoided. Snowy days would again be small, ground based work.

Sadly in both sectors, light rain was par for the course. Heavy rain or storms - work if possible, if not sit in the van with the heater on.

I have climbed in every weather and done emergency call out work in all weather. Now I'm older and wiser(??), I probably wouldn't climb in the snow or rain again due to my views on safety.
