I think that it is terribly sad.

I am not in a position to pass comment of whether he is guilty or not. As far as I am aware, there is no material proof, only testimony. People can be horribly cruel given the right incentive.

Either way, he was to me, and still is a tremendously inspring chap. I competed, albeit briefly in regional and national timetrials aged 14-15 in 1998-1999. I watched the Tour religiously and envisaged myself having a chance at competing on a higher stage later in life. Regrettably, injury raised it's ugly head and that didn't happen.

Regardless, he was a great allrounder with an uncrushable spirit. To come back from cancer to truly dominate a sport like that is an undeniable achievement, whether you believe he was clean or not. I honestly don't think that there was much, if any difference with the 'supplementation' amongst all the top cyclists at that time. The only purpose that the stripping of the titles serves is to destroy a national hero. It won't make anyone not use drugs in the future.

Very sad.

but 10 of his team riders are testifying he did epo, u could say it was in his business interest not to take it any further.

We have an expression here in this country, perhaps you may have heard of it

"follow the money". Ask yourself, what do Mr. Armstrong's accusers have to gain by accusing him of something that has not been proven?. Interviews, Books, Movie rights. Translation: $$$$ for the accusers and the people supporting the down fall of this person. Scot, what I don't think you know is that if enough evidence actually existed against this person much less any other athlete the test given would have proved guilt long ago.

How much of your fame and fortune would you be willing to spend to prove

your innocents?. I suspect very little. Mr. Armstrong made a "business decision"

and decided that even with the sponsorship he still has in tact with Nike, and I believe Budweiser, it is better to pack it in and move forward. One can remain in a holding pattern for only so long. Until any actual proof can be produced to prove the allegations against Mr. Armstrong, I refuse to have a guilty sentence passed against him in the court of public approval or in this case disapproval.

If I were accused of doing something I hadn't done I would fight to the bitter end to prove my innocence.

You can't win seven tours on the trot without taking performance enhancing drugs.

The mistake he made was to win so many, if he'd left it at three or four he might have got away with it.

I never did go much on Armstrong, not even when he rode alongside Yates in the Seven Eleven day's. Crikey they were all on it in years gone by, it's so bloody obvious.

Sad but true.

Even back in the very early days of the tour they were taking opium and caffein, drugs have been part of the tour from the very beginning.

We want sports people who win using genetics and hard work, surly we don't want the winners to be those who are prepared to take the most gear, which damages their health and shortens their lives.

Even if he cheated ??

I'm not so sure.

Just curious if you have any proof of cheating by Mr. Armstrong, or are you basing your opinion on people claiming to have seen someone do something when after every race or competition the results came back negative for illegal drugs or banned substances in his system:sneaky2:

Please tell me something that supports the claims against Mr. Armstrong other than rumors and statements made but not admissible as evidence against him?

Aye.

It doesn't always work out like that; I spent years fighting a false accusation from a woman with a personality disorder; in the end I was knackered - justice does not prevail automatically during ones' 3 score years and 10. Traditional Loggers knows the same.

Lance Armstrong was tipped off 20 minutes before he was tested, claims French anti-doping official - Telegraph

Do you think we have a test for all performance enhancing substances Lee??

Just because some one is smart enough to cheat the system, it does not mean they are not a cheat.

What possible reason do the powers that be have in framing and innocent man???:confused1:
