has anyone got any rough idea what it would cost to re wire a landy 90? after several mods and tinkering my new landy appears to have more connections than linked in! many now corroded and causing low power to trailer lights and iffy connections all over the place

If you do want to do it yourself there are plenty of wiring diagrams out on the net and Beals will have most of the necesary stuff you need, their website is rubbish request a catalogue to get the full range.

If it's for 200tdi with the bullet connector/rubber blocks they are pretty long lasting & you can clean them up with a bit of patience. The 300tdi 'upgrade' to the plastic block & blade push fits are not so.

 

I replaced the whole front loom - fuse box, engine bay, front lights etc in an evening for £30(3 years ago) which was cost of a used but intact & relatively(well in landrover terms!) unmolested one. The headache was free, but would be easier if doing it again.

 

The rear loom, for lights & tow socket, can be more easily replaced too. That plugs in at the engine bay then goes inside the chassis to the rear. If you have to/want to pull it out, tie some string on the end so you can pull the replacement back through. Or put the new wiring in some hosepipe & tie wrap it to the chassis for that 'proper job' finish.

 

Give Tony at Alldrive Landrovers a bell. He may have what you need kicking about(think that's who I got my loom off) & might post it you. Or at least you could get some sensible advice.

 

Generally though, if it's just rear lights/trailer lights playing up, then running another short earth to the chassis sorts it out, unless there are additional problems as well. LED lights are good upgrade, v low powered so are either on or off.

Hi all, seriously thinking of a buying a defender 110 V8 pick up, fuel consumption aside, does anyone have experience of using one as an arb truck.

 

sold my 110 hardtop last week and it did me well for ten years. no major repairs and never let me down in 80k miles. Only let it go because I hadn't used it since 2009
