I'm cycling about 15 Miles everyday and that will increase bow that we are into spring. My phone runs completely on voice commands and I had heard great things about SP products.I have been using it for about 3 weeks now.I know people who have this on their mountain  bikes, motorbikes and for me on my smooth tarmac circuit it is something I can never do without now.I can have maps on split screen and talk to my Grandson or friends abroad whilst exercising. It is locked on yet releases so simply. The 3M docking port is now a permanent part of the rubber case. Its going nowhere.

Les, with  respect because believe me i have been to hell and back with alcohol and would not want to discount anyone. However, as i said in my post there are a lot of false beliefs around alcohol, alcohol may reduce stress for a while, however the flip side of that is alcohol withdrawal increases stress. People say they drink because they are depressed, alcohol is a depressant, and furthermore negates any medication for depression. People say it helps them sleep, not true, quality of sleep is worse when intoxicated, A lot of these are society beliefs, society is not always right.

This is not a criticism of you Les, it's just throwing it out there.  I can honestly assure you that if i hadn't started to listen and accept i would not be sat typing this now.

While I

respect your post, I'm not sure that's true for every one. I became a heavy drinker slowly over time. I got so I was doing at least a bottle of wine each night and some time two bottles. If I didn't drink wine, I've 3 to 6 bottles of beer. I stopped getting hangovers years ago and would sleep like a log. I started getting heartburn about a year ago. Quit coffee etc, but could get shut of the heartburn. I tried medication, but it didn't really agree with me. I went for the Endoscopy down my throat (it's very unpleasant). All is normal, other than a small hiatus hernia, which apparently are very common if you have spent much time lifting things are really a bit to heavy to lift.

I the end I decided to knock the drinking on the head, I wanted to lose some weight anyway, so thought why not. I just stopped. I will still drink on Friday nights, but not any other times. Since giving up the drink, the Heartburn has gone.

But other than this resent problem and maybe falling asleep in the chair of an evening (although I still do now, after a hard day) I can honestly say alcohol never caused me any mental health issues.

Even organised last weeks job whilst on the move.(Dismantle crown to where the tree could be safely felled into the yard).Targets-9 BT wires,a couple of roofs, chimney pot, walls etc...No chipping as the owner would organise someone to stack the branches.I agreed to do it from a Platform and use only battery power.A good chance to showcase the Amazing 161T.

I think that some people are susceptible to mental health issues, it is bred into them....and alcohol is something that can be a trigger to 'awkward ' behavior. Like you, I have had periods in my life where I have drunk a fair bit, both at home and in the pub, but it has not harmed me in any way except made me poorer! I know someone who talks such bullshine sober, it amazes me and when they have a drink they are away with the fairies and the odd person who seems to get aggressive after a few too!

I think that a lot of people nowadays do like to have a 'label', or belong to a group, maybe even to have a excuse for their behaviour so align themselves within a spectrum. In the past, they may have been pushed into an industry where they had been able to 'hide or be hidden' from life by the work or their co-workers and got on with life.....but now, we have a whole section of the health industry making big dollar to pidgeon hole people, find a reason, blame or excuse folk for their oddities and that is where the thing sits!

Dave  i respect anyone's views around excessive drinking, we all see it differently . Not everyone that drinks heavily will become addicted to the level i did, everyone has a different bottom with it.

The problem i have with what you are saying is why did you find it necessary to drink up to two bottles of wine each night ? Did you like the taste of it that much, or did you drink for effect ?   If its for the taste alone then there are other drinks that taste good without the negative outcome alcohol can bring, if someone is drinking to excess on a regular basis who is in control of that situation, the person or the alcohol.

I have no problem around alcohol and how others use it, i am not them, however i had to accept that alcohol and myself are not a good mix and thats fine with me, my life functions without it, and i am happy with that. The alternative for me would be to experiment with controlled drinking, i have tried that one many times before i quit, and accept now i could be just one drink away from the gutter. That works for me.

You may not consider it has harmed you, but has it harmed others, truthfully ?

I went to a mates funeral last year, he was 48, good lad but couldn't leave the drink alone. When I went to see him in hospital he was wearing a air/oxygen mask, he'd got pneumonia, his last words to me were, "I don't want to die Egg".

Hmmm. ...... Nope. Apart from my offspring who will have to manage on what ever is left in the will after I passed it up the wall enjoying myself!

No blood spilled, no lost relationship due to drink, work has been done correctly, kids doing well enough etc etc....

Oh, BTW. I had a crap bottle of Shiraz last night and nowt since last Saturday.

So apart from the finances which you have admitted to, when you were drinking at home were you drinking alone or with partner and children around you seeing your mood swings as you got more drunk and having to adapt to them ?

Denial is a form of justification for a problem.
