hubby and i both started healthy eating couple of weeks ago, when we bought new scales and the readings on them - well we thought they were broke ! but no thats what we weight ohhhh!

gym started, cutting out rubbish like chocolate and crisps in the dinner bag, made the hairy bikers lasagne last night - lovely

as has been said, smaller portions and more excercise with healthier lifestyle, hope in a few months to loose some pounds

cutting out rubbish like chocolate and crisps in the dinner bag,

I'm taking a healthy lunch to work with me with the exception of 2 mars bars which i have one after morning break and one after lunch break...this gets burned off straight away working. Its the chocolate in the evenings that need cutting out....although i might have the odd lump of bourneville which apparently can aid weight loss

This is good advice. We simply don't need the portions we consume. We have just become so accustomed to being able to eat as much as we want to which has resulted in the general obesity of the nation.

Its ok to feel a little bit hungry and NOT go rushing to the fridge to pig out on the first thing you can find just because you can

Very true. I did put on quite a bit of weight couple of years ago, and I know it was all down to eating more than I needed - breakfast fine, but then lunch eaten by 11am, so I'd then buy more to eat later in the day, and then sometimes stop for a burger on the way home, then have an evening meal, then eat crisps while watching tele with couple of glasses of wine. I did all the gym crap for a while before that, but it just made me feel hungry and I'd ended up eating more again just to stop myself passing out! I started hovering around 13.5 stone (86kg).

But over past year, I started to cut out the extra crap. One bottle of wine a week, cuts the crisps right down, eat fruit and brazil nuts when I feel the need to top up. Still eat sandwiches at lunch time, but don't stop on way back for more food, and have halved evening meal sizes. I just don't seem to be able to eat anywhere near as much these days, yet I seem to be working much faster so the only outcome is for weight to come down, and it is.

Right fellas, Hairy dieters on bbc2!

I bought the Hairy Dieters cook book yesterday and it is full of great ideas. For lunch today I made there veg soup and it's delicious and only 102 cal Per serving. I have also started using a calorie count app, a guy I know lost 3 stone by using calorie count and exercise. I'm gonna give it a go. This morning I weighed in at 17 stone 13 pounds. I want to get down to 16 stone if possible.

102 cal per serving.... I'd need at least 10 servings for lunch

Think I'll definitely get the book. Not just for weight loss, but because their food ideas are generally pretty decent and make for proper tasty meals. They don't go overboard on all the pretentious crap that some other TV chefs do.
