Hi I have 1 acre of about 4/5ft tall brambles and the odd self seeder, iam wanting to clear these and reseed as paddock, what machine out there is capable of this job (ie mulcher) and what do people recommend, What sort of price should i be looking to pay contractor for day based nr canterbury kent.

3m flail behind big tractor, should make short work of it all and if he goes slow enough it should really munch everything up. round here its probably £250-300/day with operator

Seriously, pigs. If you've got the time. They'll eat the lot so once your freezer is full you can level and seed as paddock. If not for you then a good mulching.

If you can have a fire then get something with a big muckfork on, I have a telescopic and you can drive through bramble six feet high, it rips it out the ground and they all lock on the fork, stand by for an awesome burn up

Good idea Ed but Canterbury, unfortunately not economic, most heavy duty ag flails will cope with brambles and a bit of self set, I like the pigs one, good old remedy
