Indeed.

I get lots of emails asking for woodchip, if its convenient to me I will drop it off without charge, but if someone wants a specific amount in a specific place at a specific time then its going to cost something as I am supplying a service.

If I get an email in the same tone as the OP, it gets deleted straight away, I don't do favours for rude people.

Why do people think they have the right to almost demand logs or chip for free????????:confused1:

Why is it that people think we should give away something of value???????????:confused1: and in this case deliver it free!!!!!!!

Is this not exactly what you're expecting people to do to you, ie your expecting them to employ you to cut their tree down and let you take away "something of value" for nothing? Or if I asked you to take down a tree and told you I wanted to keep the logs would you charge me more than if you were taking the logs?

The logs are worth the effort and cost of removing them, so if the client does not want them I take equipment to the job to enable me to remove them, equipment that has cost me a great deal to buy and continues to cost in maintenance. I am not going to take that equipment to a job and the come home without as much timber as possible, as that timber helps to cover the cost of said equipment.
