Massive waste of taxpayers money.

 

Spent billions so that we can watch OTHER PEOPLE exercising !

 

Millions of idiots sitting there improving their beer gut watching other people.

 

If the same ammount had been spent on local sports facilities/ swimming pools etc everybody would have benefitted.

 

As for that olympic torch ceremony invented by the Nazis for the 1936, the whole thing is a load of bollo

I agree with the negative comments about the traffic, security, hypocritical 'countryside' themed opening (bet our dairy farmers are loving that!) and to some extent the spending, but come on fellas!

 

The pinnacle of human sporting endeavour is here on our doorstep, and we should at least show our support for the athletes.

 

I'm even thinking of offering special 'Olympic' prices during the games....

in my opinion, I think it's a pretty good thing that the olympics have come to London. it's not going to happen again in our life time so we should try to look at the positives.

 

before now I thought what a waste of tax payers money, but the problem is that members of the public hardly get a say in what the goverment spends our money on anyway. at least this way we can actually witness what it's been spent on for once.

 

Just a shame I feel that after the 16 days, the site is going to be barely used.....

Luke, I would not be to certain of that. I have heard reports that due the cost of putting on the games, ect that there is a very good chance that future games may be held in 6 different locations on a rotating basis. That makes sence since I believe some country's that have hosted in the past will not be able to afford in the future ever again.
