so what if the lad had fallen & been killed !!!youd al be having a go @ the folk letting him climb the tree, a 22 rifle would have been a better out come & safer ,why should the fire service wast time rescuing cats ,itll come down wen hungry

. Never seen a skeleton of a cat up a tree, They do indeed get hungry and figure out a way down.

There is of course the alternative headline for this thread had fortune not favoured the young lad that day, "15 year old boy killed in 50ft fall trying to rescue a cat".:confused1:.

Fair play to the lad, he must have a set on him.

I know we have a no naming and shaming policy on Arbtalk, but a fat bloke in a pub told me the details.

It wasn't just one tree surgeon who failed to reach the cat, but three.

Stephen Blair, Scotspine1 and TomD all turned up. They had a 34m MEWP, a crane, and even a Chinook at one point, but were still bested by the plucky 15 year-old.

The fire brigade couldn't do it because they were all knackered from doing tree work in their off sets.:sneaky2:

We don't know the full detail, but if the fire service and a tree surgeon had declined to climb a tree to rescue a cat on safety grounds and my son then decided to free climb the tree to save it, I,d go ballistic.

I don't want my kids risking their lives to save a cat stuck in a tree. But then we don't know the whole story:001_smile:

That's ten minutes from my house, they never rang me, we have rescued the odd cat, I usually charge though. I'd love to know who chickened out, I' will be asking around,:sneaky2:

I will be offering the lad a job, clearly he has talent.
