There's climbers and there's climbers.

I pay £150 for mine when I need them, and it should be more but that's not really feasible in the current climate. That's been the same for 3 years now.

I've seen a few I wouldn't pay £15.

Saturated market has bolloxed the job, even for very skilled and productive lads.

I finished freelance climbing on £120 4 years ago, and I'm old and shite.

£150 is proper, yes i agree some are shite, skimp on equiptment, no saw chain brakes etc but you do get the hard workers with well maintained equiptment and they are obviously worth more

I'd say £80pd for 12 month experienced climber is ok but I'd reassess it after seeing you on 2/3 different types of jobs. Your 5-6 yrs as groundie stands you in good stead so your understanding o the job process should be great.

I climber is paid by his own merit so there can't be a fixed rate for all climbers I think.

I use Reuben Coyle-Larner when I can (some of you know him) and he charges up to £180pd but he's a machine and a fine practitioner so worth the money.

He's also five minutes early and always smiling.
