Does anyone on here attend a BNI chapter? If so how long for and has it been good for business? I attended my first one as a guest last week and thought it seemed like a good way to generate business. Would've interested to hear some others opinions on its effectiveness.

I used to be in a chapter in Cambridge...its a pain in the arse and they all take it too seriously but......it does get you lots a work.....esp if your not a one trick pony.....

Give it a go, especially if your a morning person and you can send your lads out to get on.....

I got invited to one. Nice breakfast. Took full advantage of that. It seemed a bit too ooh well done you got a customer and not really my thing! I know they were really into it and it seemed like a close knit group but the cost is something i could not entertain!

I joined a group, stayed for a year snd broke even, always the promise of work but lots if non jobs due to the fact people are pressurised into finding referrals

It has worked well for my wife, who does payroll and accounts.

I attended as a guest a few times, and found that any referrals were just people thinking they were helping by getting me to look at trees that actually belonged to their neighbours or blatantly didn't need any work doing.

A lot of people there seemed to think they were doing business just by talking about it.

It may well depend on your set-up and area, and it is a good breakfast!

Oh and 600.00 a year isn't it?

And do you think that the builder in the group if there is one, is going to pass work onto you if his mate is a tree surgeon? he's supposed to but i dont some how think he will .....

Waste of time in my humble opinion, was a member down this way for a while and seemed to be full of people who thought they were Bill Gates.

Quit after 1 year and never been busier, think it depends where your chapter is.

I know SO many people like that!!!!!!!

It should be ok for business type businesses, if that makes sense, like payroll and accounts, or printing etc. every business needs those, but very few need an arborists.

My old boss went to one and lapped up all the self congratulation but never got any work out of!
