It would not be difficult to ask all staff members if they are happy to allow its use on them should the need arise and produce paper work for them to sign as evidence to this.

Although I am not aware of any possible adverse affects.

i agree but the hse dept take alot of convincing

From the civil law point of view, ie being sued for damages, any first aider is given 'good samaritan' status by the courts and is so immune from any tort action, providing what they did was in their opinion bona fides in the best interest of the casualty.

my dad has arterial fibrillation.. and for this he's on that rat poison stuff which thins his blood to avoid clotting,,,

he's been carrying a pack of this on him ever since i found it, a heavy bandage might not work as his blood is so thin, we checked with his doc about it and he said good idea..

oh he does use a chainsaw too..

thirdly how many tree surgeons would be temped to use it on fairly minor cuts e.g ones requiring a few stitches where a normal compression bandage would do

Are you joking, they cost about £15 each! Most of us would'nt dare use one unless we were projectile bleeding everywhere! :001_tongue:

Definately getting one of these to add to the kit.

Is there any type of super glue people use? utility stuff stings abit. can you buy a speciffic medical brand?

I would advise against superglue, it may close the wound but it won’t stop bleeding. You also run the risk of sealing any contamination into the wound.

It will also complicate things for the folks down at A&E

You may be aware of this, but steristrips are great.

You can hold together quite bad cuts with them. Not the really big ones this thread is about.

Hospitals use them instead of stitches a lot of the time. You can buy them in boots.

Stuck a hedgecutter in my arm not so long ago, patch up with steristrips, rollup and strong coffee for the slight shock, then back up the ladder and on with the job. Had to do it on me tod too, sorry AA Paul (H&S wise) :blushing:

edit: at least I've got a good first aid kit and a fire extinguisher:thumbup1:
