Always found for strength literally two legged jump onto a box will do no end good. Hill walking and if you do running etc picking hills to sprint up.

I don't climb for a living but i am up and down ladders in man holes. Sometimes with heavy weights on my back. I also do running events like mudruns at eastnor. I'm no string bean at 15.5 stone but i'm not unfit.

I am 16st8lb, started royal marine training year ago. press ups, ten different varieties, burpees, bastardos, tuck jumps, interval sprint training, used to do Thai boxing and the stretches from that are very good for flexibility.

Going to the pub is good for the soul but catches up with you as does clubbing.

in my personal experience, you work hard, train hard, after few weeks your work eases the stiffness of training and vice versa, the circle continues.

cardio work will increase the stamina, so that at 3pm when the arms are getting lactic and the body your fitness pulls you through. I have been training four times a week last six months and stretches every other day.

also find that getting the body warm prior to climbing helps. Bit of rushing about pre-climb and even putting up your own ladders etc helps get muscles warm.

Also, when have a shower stretch off the muscles that you have been using that day. I.e. legs arms and back.

My diets crap, but when I pay attention to it get pasta and veg and fruit etc down me see the difference all round, also keep well hydrated, you will be surprised at the lethargic effects of poor water intake prior to, during and after exercise (climbing included)
