Only got two days in this week, I don't like getting my ropes wet. Yesterday evening, got and went to put my gear away and the roller shutter just buzzed, wouldn't go up or down.

Suspected motor goosed, so called them out, wham bam £380 plus vat.

I,ve forked out a fortune this year in gear, repairs and servicing, be much better off on the dole :001_rolleyes:

Thats tough Dean, but that business today I got the bill for my crane test and service the other week, £750 plus it needs some new wear pads in the boom, I'm waiting for a price for these and fitting.

On the plus side, I had booked a few days away at Alton Towers for Me, my Mrs 4 children (although over 12s are charged at full rate) and my parents.

We had booked for the wrong week (our schools have an extra week that the rest of the country don't) so I rang to change the dates, its costing just under £500 less than the original booking:thumbup: Plus it should be quieter as most school are back in, so its a win win

Just stripped the motor and it's a linear motor, the winding are bright copper, no burning so it could only be the capacitor or a little electronic component, tried a new capacitor, I happened to have the exact one in stock and it isn't that, so I,ve priced the little component and it comes in at £1.20

So I could have taken off the motor and stripped and repaired it for £1.20

Hindsight is a wonderful thing
