Clothing to hedge in

Morning all,

I have just done my second proper hedging job solo and am pleased with the results. What I'm not happy about is the amount of thorns, cuts and scratches I seem to be covered in.

What do you guys wear when getting stuck in to a hedge? I was in chainsaw trousers below so not a mark below the waist but my arms look like I'm self harming and there's only so many rose thorns I can dig out my skin!

I'm after something that won't snag or pull I guess but not a wax jacket as it'll be way to hot.

Thanks

Tim

I've been doing the job for quite some time, and the skin will toughen up eventually. All I can recommend is a good soak at the end of the day, pull as many thorns out as poss and maybe wipe over with antiseptic like TCP. I would wear welding gauntlets to protect the hands and wrists, but forearms etc I wouldn't fuss over.

I use an apprentice for these jobs!

Like Andy says, you will get used to it to some degree but cuts and scratches are just part of the job.

If its really bad thorns and there's other people in working for me, I usually find a very important phone call to make  but if not, just get stuck into it.

I don't mind the cut but it really messes with my hair style, ohh I've seen me through a right hissy fit when a thorny branch takes out my curls :001_rolleyes:

Man up and get in about it, you can buy loads of plasters with the overcharged price for a thorny hedge
