When they are about 3-4 months old the males have brown wings and the hens stay greyish, like the one in this picture. (It's male as you can see the redish brown starting on the wing)[ATTACH]165270[/ATTACH]

 

 

Sorry ttp, I'm talking about bog standard domestic hens:-)

Two house martins we have been hand rearing for the last three weeks since the nest was brought down in heavy rain. Now getting flight training in preparation for long flight to Africa, that's if they bloody leave home!
