Lucky day today!

Had a murmuration of starlings right over my head. Early on (before I got my phone out unfortunately) a sparrowhawk went through them causing a donut shape but it disappeared and they settled to give a show.

Love that . Used to see that a lot when I was a kid , over the read beds and fields . Not so much now a days and smaller .

I could watch them do that all day. Did you ever see them on The West Pier in Brighton before it got torched? Estimated to be in excess of 3 million strong at one point, an incredible sight.

Ive been watching a Robin strut its stuff and scrap with its own reflection in the wing mirrors of the wife’s motor, it’s been at it non stop for the past 5 days! I’ve had to cover them up with carrier bags as I’m worried the little thing will use up too much energy in the run up to Winter.

Always stunning to watch them do that.

It's all about keeping track of the seven neighbours around you in the flock apparently. Never thought to look it up before.

Starlings are short and thick, with dark feathers and long, pointy bills. Collectively, however, they transform into something...
