basically if you have a new 372xpg it will have a i setting or a ii setting the ii is for the carb heater which if its on to long will damage the engine easiest way to disable it is to take air filter off and you will see a red wire going to the carb its the top wire easy to spot soldered onto the carb just cut the wire sorted.

I have heated handles on the660. It's great when it's wet, dries your gloves and the handles so you can grip the saw!

 

Plus the more you rev the warmer the handles, makes you do more work!

All the saws 242XPGCAT 346XPG 395XPG we have are with heated handles. I remember the sales place said never sold these before and when it's raining the council lads are in the vans.

 

The new Husqvarna brushcutters also have them on certain models so saving hard as the old 240R has done good service.

Is it possible to retro fit heated handles? What parts would be required apart from the handle itself? Is the back one heated as well?

I would think so, it's an element in the handle so should just pop in. The 660 heated handle has a wire running underneath the grip, so you would just have to buy the handle I suppose!

To retrofit would you not need to replace the flywheel & install all the other electrical sundries - not simply the heating element? Sounds like a less than cheap & simple affair to me

heated MS201T?...oh yes please, how nice would that be!. I warm my hands up on the exhaust of course, especially when my gloves get wet. I got chillblains on my toes this week..it hasn't even been that cold!

To retro fit you will need a different flywheel, the generator that goes behind it, the front and rear handles with the heating elements and the switch built in.

I converted one of my 357xp's to heated handles using a seized up 357xpg as a donor for all the parts. I swapped the complete fuel tank/rear handle as it all seems to be one part, swapped the front handle, the threaded holes are already there to bolt the generator on behind the flywheel, the flywheels are different as the heated handle models generate the electricity off the back of the flywheel. It's a simple unbolt, bolt on job but finding a donor saw for the right price will be the problem

the new 560xpg has one setting only, the carb heater kicks in when the temp drops below a certain level as determined by the saw
