  1. From the couple of photos I've been able to find via Google, I think you've nailed it there.
  2. It's on a live, if slightly sickly looking, yew and quite dense and spongy, not at all fragile or puffy.
  3. Didn't mean to start a war guys Some more photos. Pete.
  4. I've taken a few more photos, I'll post them up when I get to my pc.
  5. Hi Guys, I've noticed a few Yew trees in the area (South Cumbria) with this black spongy fruiting body on them, and wondered if anyone could id it for me. Cheers
  6. If money isn't a concern. Have a look at the Fuji x-pro 1, it's what I'd buy if had a spare 1500 quid.
  7. I use a 254xp with a 15" bar for all my firewood and it does the job nicely, I bought it second hand off Fleabay for about 200 squids I think. The one you've linked to is apparently made up of bits from various saws but should be none the worse for that.
  8. In my opinion Tim Stead did this kind of thing better than anyone The Workshop of Tim Stead
  9. Are you sure thats right? What happened to thousands of miles of hedgerows we used to have? Why aren't there any fish in our streams? Where have all the hay meadows gone? Why have the numbers of birds in our countryside plummetted? If you ask me, the majority of farmers don't 'look after the countryside' they have systematically destroyed it over the last 50 years in the persuit of profit. And the worst part about it is that the Common Agricultural Policy (our taxes) has paid them to do it! Just my opinion of course
  10. Looks like a Bullace to me, kind of half way between a damson and a plum.
  11. He'd better run off back there then, there's some big blokes from Oxford who would like a word with him!
  12. When the Sky 'engineer' fitted my dish he drilled the hole in the wall AFTER he'd done the job! Drilled the hole, put in the wall plug, screwed in the eye bolt, unscrewed the eye bolt and left.
  13. All these 'green' subsidies simply take money from the poor and give it to the rich. I can't afford £10000 for solar panels (I can't even afford a house to put them on) why should I subsidise someone who can?
  14. He's not bad but Chris Pfeiffer is better.
  15. Is it possible to retro fit heated handles? What parts would be required apart from the handle itself? Is the back one heated as well?
  16. +1 on the pocket boy, it's amazing what size of branch they'll go through.
  17. A lot of what goes into commercial dog food is just crap to bulk it out, stuff with virtually no nutritional value like sugar beet pulp. Many dog food companies are owned by large food conglomerates who basically use dog food as an alternative to landfill! There's usually a tiny amount of 'meat and animal derivatives' (look up 'chicken digest' if you haven't eaten recently). It's heated up to sterilise it and squirted out of a tube into handy 'kibbles' then sprayed with a large dose of 'EC permitted flavourings' to make sure fido doesn't turn his nose up at it. I haven't got the time or inclination to do the whole BARF thing so I feed my whippet on Naturediet as the next best thing. It's expensive but she doesn't eat a lot
  18. You're not old until you put cushions, a box of tissues or a hat on the parcel shelf of your car. Then it really is time to give up!
  19. A quad on its own would go over it no probs but as soon as you add a trailer with any weight in it and even the slightest incline it'll just spin all 4 wheels. Go for the hardcore.
  20. I want a hippopotamus for Christmas by Gayla Peevey YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
  21. Do they still have Guardian Angels on the New York subways?
  22. Thanks Alycidon, mine's a 1430. I've just found the instruction book for it and it seems I've been doing it wrong . I've been controlling the speed of burn with the primary air rather than the secondary lever. When I light it tonight I'll do it by the book (apart from the bit about using 1.5 kg of kindling!).
