Quite simply i've been instructed to refrain from publishing my opinion on the web regarding the products related to my employer. so anything not connected i'm ok, this has thinned it out a lot for me.

So now you know why i haven't replied to many threads where i normally would have had a comment.

I guess the biggest concern is that it is a open forum and it is available to search engines world wide -so you really need to consider what you say - its not the "mods" that are my concern just everyone else (is this verging on paranoia?).

 

Probably wasn't clever using my real name as my arbtalk name, but when I signed up I hadn't really got a clue how a forum worked - can they be changed and that way search engines can't find any of my ill informed and technically inacurate posts:blushing:

That is a concern... let's say you post something in a political thread and have a very strong opinion on something..... A customer googling your name having seen it on your van may find that post and decide you're a raving capitalist and don't want you near their socialist paradise... or vice versa....!

 

A forum I used to frequent was invisible to anyone not logged in, including search engine results. While that has benefits, it would have probably stopped me from joining up here, I lurked for quite a while before joining up, to be able to view the boards was great!

The members only forum isnt searchable by bots....I suggest using that forum if theres anything sensitive you wish to discuss..thats what its there for

It's surprising how many people do sign up when the boards are invisible. Usually once a month or so I turn the boards off to guests for an evening just to see how many new members sign up. Typically there will be 30 or so

However, I'm a very new member so you'll have to forgive me if I'm wrong. Furthermore it seems very much alive to me and well moderated compared with other forums I've experienced.

 

As a new member, I find it one of the best. There is a little bit of banter, great advice, I have learned heaps on here. There is a bit of slagging, but that's part of all forums. We are all here to learn, give advice, opinions and facts, sometimes!!!! Great work by the mods. Where do they find all the time? Thanks lads and laddy's.

Not really...thats just the nature of forums, people need to accept that....it doesnt mean anything really
