Used to have the same problem when i worked on the roads, if i was towing something small like a genny or traffic light set behind a 7.5 tonner that i couldn't see behind me, when i wanted to reverse it i used to stick a cone on top of the trailer as close to the off side as possible, i could just see the cone out of drivers side mirror and used that as a guide, but as said before stick some flags/markers on your chipper, and roberts ya farthers brother.

Go find the BIGGEST zip or cable ties you can find. Fit 2 each side on the chipper feed control bar. zipped up tight they should stick out far enough to see in your mirrors but wont harm anything you brush with them. (get a pack of them as they only last a year or so)

more expensive fixes include

Getting a caravan towing mirror fitted

Puting on an adjustable drawbar

reversing camera

Just drive forwards everywhere.

I drive a similar combo to yours, it can be a swine but:

-going round corners is easier than going straight.

-like the cable tie idea but you can also turn the spout so that you can see it.

-if you can't see the chipper it's going ok

-as soon as you can see it it's probably time to correct it immediately, driving slowly

-practice lots

-try not to let anyone see you screw up and if they do don't bother trying to explain how hard it is because they won't believe you and will end up thinking you are even more of a loser than they did to begin with

Banksman!

Reverse in a curve, always with the chipper in view.

Get some visual I'D points that give you a reference. Namely, a point on the chipper which tells you that the manouver is unrecoverable. Practice on both sides. A HGV1 includes a reverse and park with the bumper in a zone. It is not hard if you practice, think and don't get flustered.
