Bit of both Simon. If booting a few of these members who are persistently 'sniping' stops valuable users like yourself leaving because of it, then I think its fair play.

As a new comer to this I think it is a great forum/resource to learn about our industry and there are some excellent and professional discussions from which everyone can learn from.

In the short time I have been on here (now addicted) I have noticed some "know it alls" who like to put others down.

Maybe they should remember that it is only a forum to give your opinions and try to help others with your recommendations, that the coments or suggestions may not be the best advice, but as long as its in "good will" we have all got minds of our own! :001_rolleyes:

Somethings people say do get your back up, I just smile, rise above it, you only wind yourself up, after all, most things in arb are very subjective with no right or wrong answers.

Enough of the negative stuff!!! Overall excellent site, good people, great info and I hope to be a member for the long term.

Oh no im turning into a forum geek- please delete my profile :lol:

NO in response to the original post. Witching is also know as Trolling/Flames I am told? 366 new posts since the last visit. How on earth do the forum mods cope with all that never mind checking the pictures?

The one problem I see that effects most tree business is the people that steal instead of working hard to earn an honest living.

I had a call this afternoon from someone that often drives past the workbase and "noticed" we have stacks of wood. Could he come in and have some for free?:w00t::w00t: Then said all tree people are paid for the work and the wood is a perk.:laugh1:

Priced a contract a while ago and was told to take value of logs taken off site into account.

I must admit I didn't quite understand your thread as I thought you were having grief at work- many people report crap in that field.

On here- I have noticed a number increasing in the bitchy thread dept.

I put it down to users not understanding the need for smileys when joking or baiting other users.

And even when used some people choose to ignore them, and take the moral high ground, it seems just for the sake of it. :001_huh:

If you google "interactive Investor" "Beowulf mining discuss", you will see it. go back the the last 8-10 pages, "Taz devil is back" is on form, the guy is a genius, but with a scathing personality. He rips people to shreds.

Blimey its a small world,up til last year ide never heard of Beowolf Mining,i dropped 39 big leylandis and cleared them away plus a few other trees in the grounds of a realy friendly couple in stoke ferry, tea and cake all week etc.Found out on the last day that he's a director of Beowulf.

If ide known before hand i would have put a nought on the end of my quote.

I now tread extremely carefully on here and avoid threads with certain people on. I carefully read what i post to avoid causeing offence. I think society in general is having a tough time at the moment and this comes out in many different ways. On the whole there is some really great people on here but I have at times thought of having a 3 month holiday from arb talk but would miss keeping touch with a great bunch of people. On the other hand I may be one of the naughty ones :001_smile: I think if 100 regular forum users met up for the first time they would form totally different opinions of ea other some better some not so good. When you mean something it does not always come across the same when written.

Good words gensetsteve- iv had me holiday and im back, but if i feel the need i will take another.

Maybe it's all the news about overpaid under worked public sector employees going on strike because they feel hard done by....?

That's one of the things yanking my chain at the moment...

And the swampy 'occupy movement'... get off your backsides and get a job.

And that woman on the one show the other week who has to have a food parcel.... because otherwise she can't afford to feed her 3 illegitemate children, boxer dog, budgie AND pay the Sky+ bill and keep the kids in X Box games....

And... so many other things... but mostly just anyone who feels they deserve more than they work towards....

What was the question again.....?

Simon

Talk about a post that is going to create a reaction:thumbdown:

In my opinion how some react to others has nothing to do with the other person, its their own personalities that may need addressing. People would rather have a rant or be defensive rather than hear the truth.

Rover, you have started this thread asking about the recession, hard times etc, then your next post about being busier than ever, loads of work and all things rosey just twists the knife into others not in your fortunate position.

Now intentional or not, that is how it could be read.

I will try and steer a thread, change its direction all to avoid the car crash that is about to unfold. But people get their tunnel vision set sometimes, wont realise what they are doing and the safety of behind a screen goes to their head and typing they will go. Even what i am typing now will be causing a reaction, some may nod, some may agree, some will not.

It doesnt make anyone right or wrong, but its Steves ship, he wants it sailed a certain way, and it is all for the good of the forum:001_cool:

As I stated before it was a rethorical question. I don't really care if it's hard economic times, trouble with the boss/mrs or anything else for that matter that's causing the increased levels of bitch, I just wanted to "flag it" and I feel from several of the reactions that it was beneficial.

People stating they'll "stay out of threads if certain people are involved" or "best to keep quiet" and "having to be very carefull what you say" that just does not add up to the atmosphere of Arbtalk.

If my choice of rethoric did hurt anyone I'd like to offer them my heartfelt apologies, I meant no such thing.:001_smile:

I really appreciate the efforts of all you mods trying to keep a loose reign whilst staying in control, you're doing a great job.

I just felt the need to direct some attention to the responsibilities of the "normal" users.

Bless ArbTalk and all who sail in her!
