What pick up...?

I know.

I'm not trying to start a fight here.

We have enough £££ to buy a pick up anywhere between £10K and new.

Given our lack of experience in 4x4 ownership I am asking YOU guys for your opinions on everything concerning them.

We tow a 1 ton trailer, a chipper and do many miles/kms

I like the Amarok but has anyone ever seen one? I've driven one but never seen any others on the road.

The new landy is attractive, maybe they have sorted historical issues.

New ranger, isuzu is attractive...

Please share your experiences.

Cheers

Ty

2007 Ford Ranger Super Cab - very comfortable and car like to drive, low 30s mpg, very useful having the extra cab space and in 6000 miles in the last 6 months hasnt put a foot wrong (touch wood). Friend of mine has had double cab for three years and not required any work and all the gamekeepers he knows are ditching their Land Rovers for Rangers.:thumbup1:

It's all very subjective. I'm a Land Rover man through and through and would never buy a Jap truck, but I cannot in any way justify purchasing a Land Rover to you if you're just looking for something which is practical straight out the box.

Defenders are expensive, cramped and slow. But great tow cars, versatile and have excellent residuals [not to mention unbeatable off road].

I believe parts are more expensive for Jap trucks than LR's [although with the frequency with which they need replacing perhaps this balances out?]

I have seen a few Amaroks floating around here, look like a very nice truck but I would be wary of the 2.0 diesel... is it strong enough to pull a decent load in the real world? But then I have the same reservations about the new 2.2 in the Defender...

Go with the one you'll feel coolest driving I think is probably the best way to choose!
