Tips after a job

ive had bottles of wine, 6packs of beer, the odd fiver, and the odd tenner, but thats as far as it goes for me, cant complain like ian says you make the money on the job

i got given a bottle of port after reducing a holm oak over the roof of a house a few years back, when i got home, i looked it up on the interweb and found out it cost £40! well impressed, went down a treat with the pheasant that weekend!

I work for a housing association my best tip was a cup of coffee and a bacon and egg sandwich loved it lol.

£60 was my best, an 3 of us all got that. Was well chuffed with that naturally!!!

Im a freelancer and do often get the odd fiver or tenner here and there even been given eggs or sacks of potatoes if working for farmers etc

 

but the best ive ever had and probably ever will have, was when freelancing for a company there was 3 of us on a job (me, the gaffer and his other employee) we spent the day taking down an easyish poplar, at the end of the day the lady came out thanked us all settled the bill and then produced 3 envolopes we didnt open them infront of her but as soon as we pulled off the drive we cracked them open and we all had £40quid EACH!!! couldnt belive it.

 

she then rung the next day and said she had decided to have the next popar down so we went back a couple a weeks later n did it. All joking between ourselves that it would be great to get another envolope but wasnt expecting one, and then at the end of the day lo and behold she produced another 3 envolopes with the same again GOBSMAKED!!!!

we did feel a little guilty like but hey never mind :biggrin:

(and they went shy with the tea and buscuits while we were working either:001_tongue:)

 

and before anybody asks they wasnt a frail old couple or some celeb or even a multi millionair they were just an average well off couple.

I have had a few tips over the years nothing over 10 quid, but the most memorial tip was given to the chap i was subbing to,I actually winessed it the customer made a point of handing it over infront of everyone working on site, the person i was subbing to put it in his pocket and said that will cover the cost of dumping the chips....................cheers pal wonder why i don't sub to you anymore, for me small things mean alot ....................btw he's a arbtalker as well

The odd bit of cash but the most memorable had to be two freshly shot partridge, complete with feathers, guts and shot still inside!

Over across the pond, tipping is pretty much daily, $20 each usually on each job, but some tip much more, best was $250.
